Seen as the gateway to the Stikine River, Wrangell offers many exciting and unique opportunities that people of all ages and interests will enjoy. Visitors have the opportunity to get up close and personal with the wildlife — you can view bears feasting on the vast salmon populations or go fishing and catch some of the amazing Alaskan salmon yourself. Anan Wildlife Observatory is a favorite spot to view Alaska brown and black bears up close. If you find history more interesting, then Wrangell offers sites to experience Tlingit Native culture such as Chief Shakes Island and Tribal House and Petroglyph Beach State Historic Park.
